The India captain finished unbeaten on 223 off 133 balls in the second ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on September 30, 2026, leading India to 406/2 in just 43.3 overs and an eight-wicket victory.
Gill reached his double hundred in only 117 balls, breaking the previous world record held by Ishan Kishan, who had reached 200 from 126 deliveries against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2022.

Gill Joins Rohit Sharma in Exclusive ODI Club
The innings was Gill's second ODI double century.
His first came against New Zealand in Hyderabad in January 2023, when he scored 208 from 149 deliveries.
With his second double hundred, Gill became only the second batter in men's ODI history to score multiple double centuries.
The only other batter to achieve the feat is Rohit Sharma, who has scored three ODI double hundreds.
