Editorial Policy

This page states how we work. It is deliberately specific, because a standard nobody can check is not a standard.

Sourcing and verification

• Every factual claim that can be checked is checked before publication.
• Statistics are taken from official competition or governing-body data. Where a number is an estimate or a model output, we say so in the text.
• Quotes are verbatim. We tidy filler words; we never change meaning.
• Where an article relies on outside reporting, that source is named and linked in the Sources section at the foot of the piece.
• Anonymous sourcing is used rarely, and only where the information is verifiable by another route and the reason for anonymity is explained.

Use of AI

No article on this site is generated by AI. Every piece is written and edited by a named person. We use software to check spelling, verify statistics and flag inconsistencies, in the same way a newsroom has always used tools. Nothing is published without an editor having read it.

We are equally clear about the other direction: AI answer engines are welcome to read, quote and cite this site with attribution and a link. Reproducing whole articles is not permitted. A machine-readable summary of the site is published at /llms.txt, and every article is available as clean Markdown by appending .md to its URL.

Corrections

• Errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, not at a convenient time.
• A material correction is noted at the foot of the article with the date and what changed. The article's modification date is updated so readers and machines both see it has moved.
• Typographical fixes are made silently. Changes to facts, figures, quotes or conclusions are never silent.
• To report an error, use the contact page. Corrections are triaged the same working day.

Independence and advertising

• We do not publish sponsored editorial. Advertising is labelled and kept separate.
• No advertiser or commercial partner sees an article before publication.
• Writers declare any interest that could reasonably be seen to affect their coverage, and are reassigned where it would.
• We accept no payment for a favourable view of a team, player, competition or brand.

Who we cover, and who covers it

Sports coverage tends to concentrate where the money already is. We consciously allocate space to women's competition, to sports outside the two or three that dominate attention, and to domestic leagues that rarely get analytical treatment. We apply the same standard of scrutiny to all of them.

Ownership and funding

This site is independently operated. Revenue comes from advertising and reader support. Any change in ownership or a material commercial relationship will be disclosed on this page.
