An independent desk covering the sport, not the noise around it.
What's The Score is an independent sports desk. We cover cricket, football, tennis,
Formula 1, the Olympics and a long tail of sports that deserve more attention than they get.
What we publish
Three things, mostly: match reports written for people who watched the game, tactical and
statistical analysis that tries to explain rather than describe, and long-form features about
the people and systems behind the results.
How we work
Every claim that can be checked, is checked before publication.
Corrections are made openly and quickly — we date-stamp every change.
We do not run sponsored editorial. Advertising is labelled and kept separate from the desk.
Data sources are named. Where a number is an estimate, we say so.
Our test for any piece: would somebody who watched the whole match learn something from it?
